I love this. I thought dA had gone wrong when my watch attributed a photo manipulation and vector piece to Darkdesyre :)
Its totally different from everything else you've posted to date, and I'm suddenly seeing a whole new side of things you do really well :)

I really like the shapes you've created in the tuft of backlit hair by her shoulder, and that you've allowed the lines to cross and inverse.

Its odd how looks younger in the photograph. I think it might be the softness of the features, the thinness (pretend its a word) of her hair, or maybe the emphasis placed on the big dark eyes.

Its a beautiful image, and I love how you've nailed it in a handful of shades.

If PatrickToifl hasn't been by, I'll nudge him over as this is something I'm sure he'd want to see.

Thank you so much. I love drawing in vector although its a very different media with its harsh edges but I do love the simplified and stylized look of it. I always have to remember less is more... and always wind up overdrawing shapes and deleting them to simplify it in the end. The eyes of the original photo were what grabbed me and compelled me to attempt this image. Not sure I did it complete justice but it was fun to try and get the look of the eyes.

Its an odd one for me. I kind of agree in that I'm not sure you did the original photo complete justice, but it feels like you have created an independent image that stands in its own right. Its successful, but for other reasons than the source material. In that way, it transcends its origins, which is really pretty awesome :)
